If you or your loved one is experiencing hearing loss, you may have read about receiver-in-ear (RIE) hearing aids or behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids. But did you know that custom hearing aids provide a highly personalized alternative?
Here are six benefits of custom hearing aids and three different styles you can explore today.
- Made for you.
You can customize a variety of personalized hearing solutions just for you. Tailor-made to fit your ear anatomy and specially designed to treat your hearing loss, custom hearing aids are quite literally a perfect fit for you.
- Quick & easy.
To customize your hearing aid, our team of hearing care specialists will take an impression of your ear, create a mold that captures your features, and custom-build a hearing aid that fits the unique size and shape of your ear.
- Discreet yet powerful.
Despite being the size of a blueberry, Beltone custom-made hearing aids deliver a big performance, so you can hear all the sounds you’ve been missing out on clearly and comfortably. You may not be able to see your hearing aids, but you’ll be able to hear everything!
- Comfortable
Custom hearing aids from Beltone are easy to insert and remove while supporting an active lifestyle. Do you frequently put on or take off your glasses? You’ll be able to do so freely without any interference from your hearing aids—and they won’t fall out, either.
- Variety
Styles and colors. Design features. Power options. Choose the customizations that best fit your personal preferences and lifestyle.
- Connected
You’ll hear more than just the sweet sounds of your natural environment. With the ability to connect your custom hearing aids to an iPhone or iPad via the Beltone HearMax app, you can stream your favorite music and movies directly to your hearing aids.

Which custom hearing aid style is right for you?
- Invisible-in-Canal (IIC)
Practically undetectable in the ear, IIC hearing aids are excellent options for people who wish to conceal as much of their hearing aid as possible. IIC hearing aids are easy to use with your phone or a headset, are protected by the outer ear (so they pick up less wind noise), and sit comfortably in close proximity to the eardrum for less feedback and more audibility.
- Completely-in-Canal (MIH)
CIC hearing aids can be custom fit for maximum comfort, rest completely in your ear canal, and come in a variety of skin tones. They are often the more affordable option, but remain an excellent option for hearing quality, comfort, and connectivity.
- Mic-in-Helix (MIH)
These hearing aids are unique in that the main part of the unit rests comfortably in your ear canal while a separate component is worn with a concha, which fits behind the curved groove of your outer ear. A small transparent tube transmits sound from the microphone in the concha to the component in your ear canal. MIH hearing aids are ideal for people with active lifestyles and who enjoy spending time outdoors.
